With 27 professors and more than 60 postgraduate students, the Department offers a vibrant and stimulating environment for cutting-edge research. It hosts regular lecture series and distinguished visiting scholars from around the world.
The successful candidate will develop independent research leading to a PhD in the broad field of urban geography, with the aim of preparing for an international academic career. They will have considerable freedom in defining the topic of the thesis. It should, however, demonstrate a link to the ongoing research of Prof. Martin Müller and his team. The methodological focus is open to quantitative, qualitative and mixed approaches.
The candidate will devote at least 50% of their working time to their PhD research, with the remaining time reserved for assisting with teaching at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level and contributing to collaborative research and activities.
