C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities, who are working to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis, and create a future where everyone, everywhere can thrive. Mayors of C40 cities are committed to using a science-based and people-focused approach to help the world limit global heating to 1.5°C and build healthy, equitable and resilient communities.

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) is the world’s largest alliance for city climate leadership with a shared long-term vision of promoting and supporting voluntary action to combat climate change and move to a low-carbon, resilient society, based on the following core principles:

  • Local Governments are Key Contributors
  • City Networks as Critical Partners
  • A Robust Solution Agenda
  • Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fostering Local Climate Resilience
  • A Locally Tailored and Globally Coherent Alliance

The Urban Transitions Mission Project Manager will set up and curate an online database of advisory and funding actions undertaken in EU Member States and Associated Countries (at national level, but also at regional and city level) to support the climate neutrality of non-European cities.

The database will inventory as well the advising and funding opportunities at international level that could benefit cities in Europe. The Manager will also offer support in terms of directing cities towards the right financing sources, support them to improve the quality of financing plans through targeted capacity building and assistance and encourage partner organisations to connect to the project portal to offer information along all stages of city climate project financing.

They will also work with UTM-Centre partners, including ICLEI and FFG Austria to ensure delivery of related financing focused tasks.

The postholder will also have the opportunity to support broader Urban Transitions Mission work, and collaborate with the UTM team to ensure an impact-driven delivery of the support and knowledge provided by the Center.

They will also be able to link with the wider work of the GCoM Finance Technical Working Group and GCoM’s work in support of the City Climate Finance Gap Fund.
