About the institution
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a centre for research, education, production and outreach, with the mission of envisioning the future habitat of our society and building it in the present.
About the program
The Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA) focuses on generating new ideas and applications for urban design, self sufficiency, digital manufacturing techniques and advanced interaction in the current global context of rapid change, utilizing digital technologies.
IAAC takes a multidisciplinary approach to address the challenges of our environment and the future development of cities, through combinations of technology, biology, computational design, digital and robotic fabrication to push innovation beyond traditional architectural approaches.
The MAA program is divided into three different programs: MAA01, MAA02, and MAA01+3DPA.
- MAA01 is a one-year program consisting of three terms, offering a total of 90 ECTS.
- MAA02 provides the option of a 2-year master. During the second year, students have the opportunity to work on an Individual Thesis Project, focusing on research or a pilot project based on their interest and their learnings from the first year. Additionally, MAA02 includes seminars to enhance students’ theoretical, practical, and computational skills. Lastly, IAAC also offers a master’s program leading to a PhD for those interested in furthering their studies in advanced architecture.
- MAA01+3DPA is the combination of MAA01 with another program offered by IAAC
