About the program
The Master in City & Technology and the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) welcome a diverse range of urban thinkers, including urban designers, environmental engineers, architects, economists, sociologists, and data scientists. This interdisciplinary master addresses challenges such as planetary-scale urbanization, climate change, and rapid technological development, aiming to produce resilient, circular, inclusive, and just urban environments.
The master’s program combines data science and urban design. The academic structure follows IAAC’s learn-by-doing and design-through-research methodology. The program offers a one-year option with three terms of 90 ECTS in total, focusing on different aspects of urban technology, and a two-year option of 120 ECTS including an additional nine-month thesis project. The second year also includes seminars enhancing theoretical, practical, and computational skills.
Throughout the master students are connected with a network of professionals, companies, and research centers, facilitating integration into public, private, and third-sector roles related to urban design, planning, intelligence, analytics, policy-making, community initiatives, and environmental design.
