Publica CIC is inviting artists to participate in a creative workshop series in public spaces after dark, exploring women’s safety experiences and their visions for the future. Each workshop will be rooted in the artist’s practice, focusing on elevating the voices of women and girls to influence policy and inspire interventions that foster safer, more inclusive public spaces.
The project, titled “The Right to the City,” is a collaboration between Publica, the City of London local community, Ward Councillors, the NLA, and the City of London Police. It aims to understand and improve the experiences of women, girls, and gender-diverse people in the city after dark. Workshops will be held between November 2024 and March 2025, with an exhibition of the results planned for June 2025.
Selected artists will receive £1,000 to develop and facilitate workshops that explore the City at night. Applications, due by October 20, 2024, should include a proposal, engagement methodology, a portfolio, and a brief introduction.
Publica encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds, particularly those with lived experiences relevant to the project’s themes, to co-create safer, more joyful urban spaces for women, girls, and gender-diverse people in the City of London.
