Utrecht University is seeking candidates for a research opportunity focused on advancing the circular economy within the Dutch construction sector. With the Dutch government’s strong commitment to circularity, specific attention is directed towards industries like construction due to their significant material consumption and waste generation. Greenhouse gas emissions stemming from this sector are substantial, making efforts to enhance circular practices imperative. The UPSCALE project, backed by NWO funding, aims to revolutionize construction supply chains through digitalization and Peer-to-Peer principles, fostering a trusted ecosystem for circularity. In this Ph.D. role, candidates will assess circularity readiness, identify barriers, develop strategies, and collaborate closely with project partners and Utrecht University’s Innovation Studies group. Ideal candidates hold a research Master’s degree, possess a keen interest in circular economy, and demonstrate strong social science research skills. Proficiency in English and Dutch(or willingness to get it in 12 months), is essential. The position offers a one-year appointment, extendable to four, with competitive compensation and benefits.
