Building Biology Course IBN

About the institution

The Institute of Building Biology + Sustainability IBN looks back on more than 40 years of pioneering educational programs and healthy building. Their focus lays in the training and qualification of building biologists on the basis of the 25 guidelines of building biology and the standard of building biology measurement technology. The state-approved distance learning course in Building Biology IBN has been available since 1977 – now in several languages – as well as other in-service seminars and qualification opportunities.

About the program

Building Biology Course is an e-learning course, providing an interdisciplinary educational opportunity for building professionals such as architects, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, staff members of construction companies, building material manufacturers and suppliers, housing agencies, building management companies, as well as (environmental medicine) health care professionals, but also for students from e.g. technical colleges and homeowners. The course can be undertaken without any prior experience with the field (a consultation with IBN is recommended).

The Building Biology Course focuses on indoor climate, technical infrastructure and environmental performance of the building. The basic knowledge of building biology is divided into 20 different course modules. For a better learning experience, the “Audiovisual Media Section” offers videos, online lectures, podcasts, and illustrations. The course can be started at the beginning of every month and usually takes about one year to complete.
