About the institution

The Center of Alternative Technology (CAT), located at the heart of the Dyfi Biosphere in Wales, is a pionieering eco centre researching and teaching practical solutions for sustainability. Five decades of experience in low-impact building, energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable food production, natural resource management and more, CAT is uniquely placed to offer training in this area.

About the program

The Green Building Program is based on the belief, that to reach zero carbon in the design and building industry, the materials and methods used must be adapted. CAT’s unique on-site study experience combines hands-on practical learning with in-depth academic study, so it will allow students to learn about and experience sustainable building methods and materials. Through this course, students will also acquire a rigorous understanding of the social, practical, political, economic and environmental aspects of green building and construction.

Students can decide whether they want to study a module on-site or via distance learning. Full-time study at MSc level will allow students to complete the course in 18 months. Part-time study at MSc level will be completed in recommended three years. Post-graduate diploma or post-graduate certificate can be obtained in compressed studies.
