About the institution
Malmö University (Swedish: Malmö universitet) is a public university located in Malmö, Sweden. It has exchange agreements with more than 240 partner universities around the world and ca. one third of the students have an international background. Education at Malmö University focuses on, among other things, migration, international relations, political science, sustainability, urban studies, and new media and technology.
About the program
The purpose of the program is in accordance with Swedish policy’s goals for a designed living environment, which includes architecture, form, design, art and cultural heritage. The goal is to ensure that people have access to inclusive and well-designed environments that are sustainable over time. Sustainable architecture and urban design is a bachelor’s degree for those who want to design architecture and built environments for a climate-neutral and equal future.
Main focuses of the studies are circular construction, climate-neutral neighborhoods and social equality. The bachelor studies are consisting of 3 semesters taught in Swedish, the 4th semester which is taught in English, the free 5th semester (option to pursue an international study exhange or participate in compulsory subjects at any university in Sweden) and the 6th semester, which ends with the degree project. Studies start in September each year and are worth 180 ECTS (3 years of full-time studies including a free semester and a final semester).
Application process consist mostly of high school grade evaluation, with requirements for specific natural science subjects.
