About the institution
Tampere University (Finnish: Tampereen yliopisto, shortened TAU) is a multidisclipinary public university located in the city of Tampere, Finland. The school includes an Extended Virtual Architecture Laboratory (EVA Lab) with XR-devices equivalent to human eye resolution. This offers the students completely new possibilities for experiencing and learning about architectural design in the 3D-world.
About the program
The Sustainable architecture Master’s program is research-based and intended to support student’s design projects at building and urban scale. Students are expected to position themselves through critically exploring and responding to some of the key (inter)national current and emerging sustainability challenges through group and individual work. The course fosters the development of evidence-based sustainable design with environmental ambition, alongside architectural and spatial imagination and delight. A major theme is the relationship between the built and natural environment and the heart of the studies is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”.
The program is limited to 10 students. Studies take place at the Hervanta campus in Tampere. Program is 4 semesters long and the student is awarded 120 ECTS upon completing the studies. Students are awarded a Master of Science (Architecture) degree.
