SpACE Lab at ISU – Institute for Sustainable Urbanism at Technische Universität Braunschweig is seeking an Urban Data Scientist for the Urban Climate Future Lab (UCFL). UCFL is a pioneering interdisciplinary research initiative in collaboration with Leibniz University Hannover, Leuphana University Lüneburg, ARL (Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association), and GERICS (Climate Service Center Germany). It is funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK) and the VolkswagenStiftung through the zukunft.niedersachsen program.
The Urban Data Scientist will manage and develop UCFL’s data infrastructure, integrating diverse datasets to support research on sustainable urban development and climate adaptation. The role involves interdisciplinary collaboration with experts in fields such as architecture, climate science, and governance to create actionable insights for sustainable urban planning. Responsibilities include data analysis, visualization, publication drafting, and contributing to future project proposals.
Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field, possess strong expertise in data management, urban modeling tools, and programming languages, and demonstrate a collaborative spirit. Proficiency in English is required, with German skills as a plus.
