This is a full-time role working from our office above Smithfield Market in Farringdon. Urban Designer candidates should have RIBA II, Masters or equivalent landscape architecture or urban design qualification. They should have a minimum of two years’ professional experience of producing urban design or equivalent within architectural practice, including detailed analytical work. At Publica, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preparing and delivering public realm strategies and designs for a number of sites in the UK and abroad.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributing to the delivery of complex and/or multiple urban design, landscape, and public realm projects including the following essential skills:
- Experience working across RIBA Stages 0-4, including developed and detailed design.
- Leading the development and production of design studies and drawing sets.
- Drawing and digital visualisation using Adobe CS and Microsoft Office suites, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, and physical models.
- Carrying out desk-based research and archival research.
- Assisting in the assembling of case studies.
- On-site area surveying, including interviews, photography, and mapping.
- Further desirable skills include writing, presentation, and GIS skills.
- Working closely and effectively with other members of the team, including the Executive Team, Projects Director, Senior Urban Designers, other Urban Designers, Graphic Design Team, Researchers, and Project Assistants or freelancers in the delivery of projects.
- Management of project deadlines and effective coordination with other Publica internal teams, such as graphic design, research, communications, and administration.
- Contributing to the production of presentations for external audiences.
- Adhering to all filing procedures.
- Attending internal staff meetings, including full team meetings and project meetings.
- Helping to maintain digital and paper office filing systems relating to the above projects.
- General office duties relating to the above work such as printing, tidying, or day-to-day correspondence.
