Architectural Technologist for natural construction materials

IndiNature is seeking an Architectural Technologist for a 12-month maternity cover role, with potential for a permanent position. Based at their innovative mill in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring at least two days per week on-site. The position will start in February 2025, with a salary of £32,000–36,000 per year, 35 holidays annually, and a competitive pension contribution.

The Architectural Technologist will work closely with the sales team, clients, and distributors, ensuring IndiNature’s sustainable, bio-based insulation products are specified and installed to optimize performance, safety, and compliance. Responsibilities include providing technical sales support, updating installation guides, producing technical drawings, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting CPD sessions for architects and installers. There may also be occasional involvement in trade shows and customer engagements.

The ideal candidate will have a qualification as an Architectural Technologist or Technician with at least five years’ experience, a strong understanding of moisture and heat transfer in buildings, and proficiency in tools such as WUFI modeling, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop. Experience with natural fibre insulation and U-value calculations is essential, while knowledge of thermal bridging, embodied carbon calculations, or CPD delivery is an advantage.
