Research Associate – Future Skills Think Tank

apply before December 2, 2024

Description

The London School of Architecture (LSA) is seeking a Research Associate for a four-month fixed-term position to support its Future Skills Think Tank project. This role focuses on exploring equitable and sustainable foundational skills training in the built environment sector. The associate will conduct desk-based research, interviews, and evidence-gathering to map the current state of built environment education in the UK and propose pathways for transformation. The position involves engaging with stakeholders, managing project data, and co-producing a final report with recommendations, case studies, and evidence summaries.

The LSA, based in Hackney, London, is an independent educational institution dedicated to addressing social and environmental challenges through innovative architectural education. Founded in 2015, it offers a range of programs, including postgraduate and short courses, and aims to expand into green skills and multidisciplinary training. The Future Skills Think Tank, a collaborative initiative with partners like the London Borough of Hackney and the Design Museum Future Observatory, focuses on creating equitable industry pathways, addressing skills shortages, and promoting sustainable practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong research, communication, and project management skills, with a background in the built environment or related fields. They will be comfortable conducting interviews, summarizing findings, and engaging with diverse stakeholders. The LSA encourages applications from individuals traditionally excluded from the industry and is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in its workforce and initiatives. The role begins in January 2025, with interviews scheduled for December 6, 2024.
