About the insitution

Aalto University is a public research university located in Espoo, Finland. The close collaboration between the scientific, business and arts communities is intended to foster multi-disciplinary education and research.

About the program

The international Master’s Programme in Creative Sustainability (CS) is a joint Master’s degree programme of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the School of Business and the School of Chemical Engineering. Creative Sustainability provides a multidisciplinary learning platform in the fields of design, business and chemical engineering. Students also have possibilities to take selected courses from architecture and built environment.

Students can choose from three distinct routes, each leading to a specific degree: Master of Arts, Master of Science in Technology, or Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration.

To date, this program has been the program of choice for students of 54 different countries from all over the world. Thanks to this fact, the CS learning experience takes place in a diverse, like-minded supportive group of highly motivated students and faculty.

120 ECTS are completed through the 2-year studies. The language of instruction is English, with mandatory language studies. A minor (in addition to the major) can be chosen at the university.

The program stands out by combining different sciences or approaches with the aim of giving to the student deeper understanding of the subject of study.

Society

The program emphasizes the human dimension of the built environment, e.g. participatory processes or inclusive designs.

Business & Management

The program addresses how to organize architectural and spatial infrastructures or processes, either for private or public actors.

Materials

The program explores (certain) building materials and/or technical circularity processes.

Digitalisation & Technology

The program emphasizes the technological aspects of the built environment, e.g. BIM, robotics or digitalisation.
