Gendersensibles Planen und Bauen

About the institution

SIA inForm is a training institution for architects and engineers, offering industry-specific and practical training and further education.

About the program

Structures and habits in architecture and planning are still male-dominated. This has consequences for our designed environment. Gender perspectives are designed to abolish one-sided orientation and to meet different demands and needs.

Gendersensibles Planen und Bauen program covers topics such as Gender Mainstreaming, Gender Shift, New Work, Gender Compass, Gender Criteria, etc.

This program is taught in 5 modules, which can be also studied individually. Form of the course is hybrid, with some modules taking place online and some in-person in Zürich. In workshops, participants learn to apply and deepen the knowledge they have acquired. At the end, the various building blocks are brought together and requirements for policy, practice and training are formulated and discussed. This course is offered as a Weiterbildung, or continuing education, providing existing experts with more detailed education, without a thesis or a degree at the end.
