About the institution

École Polytechnique, also known as l’X, is an historic institution. Founded in 1794, it holds a leading role in the French academic tradition, having hosted several prestigious scientists, presidents and Nobel Prizes medalists as students. École Polytechnique ranks 18th worldwide in the “Digital Leaders in Higher Education” ranking compiled by Emerging for Times Higher Education (THE). It ranks 14th worldwide in the “Computer Science” category, 23rd in the “Management of Digital Transformation” category and 24th in the “Digital Entrepreneurship” category.

About the program

This course provides students with the economics know-how to navigate the current trends shaping 21st century metropolitan economies, with aim to study new and transforming metropolitan areas and their competitive environments. This program in fact involves a strong involvement and interest for economics and econometrics applied to urban subject (Urban economic, Environmental and Energy Economics, Evaluation of Public policy, Econometrics, Traffic and Transportation systems, Geographical Information System, Big data,… )

Throughout the two years of the Program, students are required to complete a research project. They can choose to do a research thesis, or work on a real-world case study called the “Capstone Project”, which is done in collaboration with the city of Paris. Students complete a four- to six-month internship at the end of each year of the Program, either in France or abroad. Full-time studies take 2 years to complete and are worth 140 ECTS.
