The Institute for Construction at TU Braunschweig is looking for a research assistant (m/f/d) to lead the teaching research project Robotic Timber Studio (RTS).

With the establishment of the RTS, we are creating an experimental space for the development of resource-saving design practices in the context of architectural teaching. Translating design ideas into architecture that is aware of planetary boundaries requires an examination of their production processes. As part of the RTS, students learn to incorporate digital planning processes and robotic production methods in timber construction into the design process in order to develop innovative timber structures with a focus on dismantlability and recycling. The course covers the entire process from design, 3D modeling and programming of the robot to the production of the timber construction elements.

Your tasks include the design and implementation of the course, operation of the institute’s own cooperative robot in collaboration with the technical lead of the RTS, as well as the management of third-party funds and the documentation of the results.

Very good knowledge of German and English is a prerequisite.

The project is funded by Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre. The position is limited to 2 years. Selection interviews will take place in February.
