The research group on civil engineering and geomatics is searching for a PhD candidate interested in circular manufacturing of wood-based structures. The candidate will be part of the recently started research project, 1-2-TRESTEG, joining a cross-disciplinary team of researchers and PhD colleagues investigating circularity from different perspectives. This project is part of the department’s long-term research strategy addressing the circularity and efficiency of the building sector in general and prefabricated wood-based structures in particular. NTNU is also part of the Norwegian Wood Cluster, both contributing to, and having access, to an extensive industry- and academia network.
Keywords for the position are: Design for manufacturing, integrated parametric design and production set-up, re-manufacturing, and automated production. The starting point for the PhD-candidate in terms of research question, method, boundaries, and case-studies will be discussed and agreed-upon between the candidate and the supervisors.
Duties of the position
- Conduct theoretical and experimental studies of the above-mentioned research case study.
- Document and publish results in acknowledged peer-reviewed academic publication channels.
- Conduct at least the mandatory course credits for PhD-candidates at NTNU.
- Contribute to project meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.
- Contribute positively to the work environment in general and the research team at department level.
