This research project focuses on the crucial aspects of post-conflict and post-disaster reconstruction, emphasizing the significance of resilient and sustainable built environments. The aim is to conduct a systematic literature review, develop a conceptual framework, and explore case studies to understand the state of the art in reconstruction. The research will address key questions, including the incorporation of concepts like the Regenerative Built Environment, Circular Economy, and Build Back Better into reconstruction efforts. The candidate, holding a relevant master’s degree and research experience, will contribute to refining theoretical frameworks, providing practice and policy guidance, and participating in teaching activities. This 4-year PhD position at Estonia’s leading technical university offers opportunities for high-level research, conference participation, and international networking within the fields of resilience, sustainability, and the built environment. The Building Lifecycle Research Group, known for its comprehensive approach to the building lifecycle, will oversee the research, covering areas such as disaster resilience, sustainable construction, and regulatory standards in the Estonian construction industry.
